Wind mitigation inspections in Miami that can lower your insurance
Florida insurers must offer discounts for wind-resistant features, but they can only credit what's documented on the state's official form, OIR-B1-1802. We inspect your home, photograph every feature, and complete the form for your insurance agent.
What we check
- Building code and year of the roof covering
- Roof deck attachment
- Roof-to-wall connections (toe nails, clips, single or double wraps)
- Roof geometry (hip, gable or flat)
- Secondary water resistance
- Opening protection: impact windows, doors, garage doors and shutters
Who does the inspection
Inspections are performed and signed by Heriberto Canete, Florida-licensed home inspector (HI19084), InterNACHI certified, and a Florida Certified General Contractor (CGC1541508), so you also get a builder's eye on your roof and structure.
Also available
Roof inspections, new construction inspections, moisture intrusion inspections and exterior inspections.
Common questions
How much can I save?
It depends on your home's features and your insurer. Homes with strong roof-to-wall connections, a well-attached roof deck, or impact-rated openings usually qualify for the largest credits.
How long is the form good for?
A completed OIR-B1-1802 is generally valid for up to 5 years, as long as the features it documents haven't changed.
What do I do with the form?
Send it to your insurance agent or company. They review it and apply the credits your home qualifies for.
